More on Ser yo es un asco…

I found the first chapter of  Sucks to Be Me / Ser yo es un asco online! Here: http://www.ed-versatil.com/capitulos/11.pdf

But here’s a funny thing…okay, you know how I have a character named Ms. Tweeter? She isn’t named after someone who twitters or anything. I think I had just named her that randomly, probably thinking about birds and that she was a little silly and flighty. Well, apparently, “tweeter” also means…um, well, some “dirty” things. As in body parts that we don’t normally bring up in polite conversation.

I did not know that.

Until now.

I noticed a footnote in the translation (not sure if it is in the final book or not) and, after posting on Twitter, found out from various helpful sources (like the awesome editor at Flux) that, yes, indeed, “tweeter” has some less savory meanings.

Heh.

Who knew? *sigh* I promise, any parents (and teens) out there reading this — I really had NO IDEA! Though I have to admit it is kind of funny. It reminds me of a story about a famous poet who wrote a poem in his old age and talked about a nun’s wimple (hat), but he called it something else. Something, erm, well…the same thing a tweeter apparently is. And NO ONE told him because he was a) very old and frail and b) famous and c) they didn’t have the heart to tell him he basically made an ode to a part of the nun that the nun would never have wanted thought of in public.

Well, no one told me either. Until now.

Yeesh.
