Adventures in Stickers

Okay, so I’m going to be one of the featured authors tomorrow at the Anderson’s Bookshop Children’s Lit Breakfast. Which is a huge affair, as I understand it. And I was thinking this afternoon how I only have book swag for my first book, since I hadn’t ordered any bookmarks or anything for my second one yet. And how, darn it, I probably ought to have something.

So I got the bright idea of making buttons. I went out to the Hobby Lobby to try and locate a button maker, since I’d seen one there before. But they, apparently, don’t carry them anymore and I didn’t have time to run out to another store (having little Max kinda crimps the footloose and fancy free days of my past). So I got the next best thing I could think of: a sticker maker.

I will not bore you (or traumatize you) with everything that has gone wrong with the making of these stickers. Let’s just say that I started trying to make them, eh, 4 or 5 hours ago. Right now, I’ve got a tiny little stack of completed ones.

I have had an Epic Craft Fail tonight.

Here’s what the sticker image looks like:

Still Sucks to Be Me Sticker

Simple, right?

Here’s a photo of the in-progress mess:

And here’s my small stack of completed stickers. Of which I need something like 50. At least.

The Stickers

Seriously.

All I can say is, if anyone so much as impinges the craftiness of my stickers tomorrow? I may have to go medieval on them.

I totally feel your pain. I had to make stickers like that for a project last year and I had similar epic craft fail.

Oh, it was a nightmare. If I even *look* like I want to do that again? Hit me.
