Reviews and other good stuff…

Blogger reviews are starting to roll in, including some I am totally in love with. LOVE, I tell you. Check it out:

The Book Cricket appreciates that I don’t take myself too seriously (In the hands of a less talented writer, this book could have become either a SRS BIZNIZ “y no one luv meee?!?!” YA novel, or a SRS BIZNIZ “take my srs majikul realizm bizniz srsly!” YA novel.  But it does none of these things.  Kimberly Pauley knows her stuff; this book is both good at portraying believable human teenagers and their cats, and good at moving right along and being SUPER FUN without ever getting bogged down in what could otherwise be a total emo buzzkill) which, um, yeah. I don’t take myself too seriously. At all. And I am SO glad I didn’t write a total emo buzzkill.

She goes on further to explain Five Reasons Cat Girl’s Day Off Should Be Movie, Too that I SO love that I totally squeed when I read it. In a good way. I even pass the Bechdel Test! Even though I hadn’t (gasp) heard about it before, I’m glad I do!

Finding Wonderland says: If you’re in the mood for something fast-paced and frothy, and you love Chicago, John Hughes, Ferris Bueller, and …cats… pick this one up. What’s not to love there? I love all those things!

The Conscious Cat adds: The book is absolutely delightful. Written in a lively, breezy, conversational style, told from the extremely likeable protagonists perspective, the story takes the reader on a wild ride  involving a kidnapped celebrity blogger, a pink cat, a movie set, and a shape-shifting villain. And I totally agree with her that you’ll just have to read the book yourself to find out why the cat on the cover is pink. Or, I guess you could check out the Sneak Peeks on the site (ahem).

And hey, for Sucks to Be Me fans (who know French!) there’s even been a review posted of the French edition at Livr@ddict! Er…hope you have better luck translating it than I do…my French is quite terrible. My Italian and Spanish are much better…heck, even my Latin is better than my French.

Second Bookshelf on the Right likes Ian (hey, so does Nat). And Tsana at Tsana’s Reads and Reviews says: Cat Girl’s Day Off was an amusing and quirky (in a good way) book. A quick light read that made me laugh out loud a few times (mostly at the snarky cats). Cats? Snarky? Um, yeah… ;)

And…if you didn’t notice it earlier, The School Library Journal really liked it! They said (in part): Pauley’s homage to Chicago and her favorite teen movie is entertaining, hilarious, and exceptionally creative. Populated with wonderfully eccentric and endearing characters, this lighthearted comedy will be an instant hit, especially among teen and tween girls. One thing is for certain–readers will never again look at their feline friends in the same way.

Even the first Amazon review that has been posted is a good one! Yay! (Psssst! I’d LOVE it if you posted a review there or at B&N if you can…)
