In the first book, Mina’s mom was a teacher. In the second book, she didn’t have a job because there wasn’t much on offer in Cartville and she was exploring her options. Now…in the third book…any ideas what Mina’s mom might like to take on?
After a comment someone made somewhere in one of the past posts, I was thinking that maybe her mom could get into baking or cooking because a) she’s in Paris, France (good food! NOM NOM NOM) and b) she’s done quite a bit of cookie and cake baking in the books anyway. It’s something she likes to do.
What do you guys think? Any other suggestions or ideas? This may not wind up as a huge part of the story, but unlike many YA books, Mina’s parents are quite involved in her life (hence her problem in the first book). They do love her and she loves them, so even though a lot of Mina’s adventures in this one are going to be off on her own or with…nope, sorry, not gonna tell you yet <evil grin>…I don’t want them to just conveniently disappear so she can go off and tackle things on her own.

Maybe at first she would always be trying new recipes, and it wouldn’t work very often, ( kind of like Nat’s mom) but then she would gradually get better.
She could also make a whole bunch of “normal” recipes, but she would use vampiric ingredients? It would either be really funny or really gross!!
I think it’s a GREAT idea!! Maybe, like Sara said but just a bit different, she should try doing VAMPIRE recipes but because it wouldn’t work out to much she would just do HUMAN recipes but with different (by different i mean vampire) ingredients inside!! And maybe then she could sell her “recipes” to a vampire chef by saying that she created it to make more money… Oh well, i know it’s a weird idea but i’m just putting that out there!!! You make the choices anyway so… That’s it.
I would look mia mom to take a cooking class so she can make tasty vampire food for her family (Hebe)
Hmm, here’s my idea…
maybe she read a book about Julia Child and got intrigued with French cooking and start taking lessons in Paris. Maybe she also took Mina with her and then something will happen like, the Black Talons were actually the ones teaching cooking lesson. Something like that. Or maybe not include Mina but just write about her mother being very interested in French cooking and Julia Child and her mom, tries to experiment at home and Mina, like a lab rat, is force to taste all the food. Haha.
Oh! I love that first idea about the Black Talon being the teacher and Mina and her mom taking the class and maybe Cameron was the teacher with a different name and Mina finds out it’s him.

I think that may have been my comment, but i don’t know if i was the only one to suggest it. anyways. I like the idea of Mina’s mom doing something with cooking. She could be a baker or a resturant owner or just cook a lot at home, or maybe even start up her own vampire classes for cooking. I think the classes would offer a different take on it because not only could they attended classes like shape shifting (and for mina possible continuation of her mind abilities with Cameron) but she would offer people the chance to make different meals, but also remind people of meals without blood in case they have people over who might not like that sort of thing. Or if she was a resturant owner she could offer blood and non blood meals that way she can serve everyone and there is like a code word (that would spread around the vampire community) to have blood involved in the meal.

It would be awesome for mina’s mom to write her own cookbook, and offer classes through the vra. There she could sell her cookbooks to her students. The travel would be a valid excuse for her mom to take a step out of the picture, and I’m sure if she volunteered to teach classes it would score her some brownie points with the vra.
I was thinking that maybe she would get into paiting, and cooking/baking. Maybe even hold her own classes on cooking.

Maybe a Black Talon could take the class, or maybe her 1st class would be ALL black Talons! And they could be doing some spying. That would be interesting..
mabey she should open up a little bakery….and find a man who is interested in her who thinks she is single (she still stays with bob) but….it will definetly spice up her life as well.
