So, whaddaya think of my brand-spankin’ new website courtesy Design Ng? There’s still a few content-y things I need to update (like the Q&A page…hey, you have any new questions for me??), but for the most part, we’re there! Love to hear your thoughts!!

The Great Scavenger Hunt!

Have you heard about the awesome Great Scavenger Hunt Contest that author Kay Cassidy started? If you’re a librarian or teacher and you haven’t gotten involved yet…what are you waiting for (and hey, teens? If your librarian isn’t participating…now would be a good time to go give ‘em a whack on the head. Though, okay, maybe only figuratively, not literally. Don’t want a bunch of black and blue librarians out there.)?

I’m officially now a participating author with Sucks to Be Me and soon with Still Sucks to Be Me. I’m also going to be donating books to Kay to give away.

So, you're a blogger and you wanna review Still Sucks to Be Me…

So I’ve got this big shiny box full of ARCs of Still Sucks to Be Me. Some of them are earmarked for my fellow author peeps. And there’s a few I’m reserving for a special fans-only contest (coming probably in March), but some need to go out to book bloggers. I’d started a list but then lost it in The Great Computer Transfer of ‘09 (read: I got a new MacBook for Christmas, but it didn’t like my old e-mails). So…I thought I’d try something I’ve seen a lot of other authors do…

If you’re a book blogger / reviewer and you’d like an ARC of Still Sucks to Be Me to review, here’s what you gotta do…send me an email at kim @ kimberlypauley.com (remove spaces) or fill out the contact form and tell me:

• Your name
• Your blog / site URL
• Link to your review of the first book (Sucks to Be Me)
• Anything else you’d like to tell me (like why YOU should get an advance copy)

I’ve got a limited supply, though my publisher will also be sending some out.

As an added thing…remember back when Sucks to Be Me came out and I had an online launch party where I featured other authors and their books for two weeks? And gave prizes? Well, this year I’m planning something similar, but I want to feature book bloggers / reviewers…so anyone I send out an ARC to, I’m gonna be interviewing you too and featuring you on my blog during the month of May.

UPDATE: This is basically ongoing until I run out of ARCs…(and I just got some more…)

Free Batty Tattoo!

Woot! Aren’t they cool? Thanks once again to the awesome Emi Tanji for designing batty for the book!

New cool STBM Book Swag!

You want one? You know you do. Just do the same thing as when you’re sending off for a bookplate (and if you need one of those, I’ll send one out too!). Send me a self-addressed stamped envelope and I’ll send you one. For those of you who’ve never done an SASE before, here’s what you do:

1. Get TWO envelopes (business size is best since I can fit bookmarks in those…and you want a free bookmark too, right?)
2. Envelope One: Address this envelope to yourself. Put a stamp on the envelope. Set aside.
3. Envelope Two: Address this envelope to me at: Kimberly Pauley, PO Box 303, Grayslake, IL 60030 and put a stamp on it.
4. Write me a letter telling me a) what you want (i.e. batty tattoo, bookplate, etc.), b) how you want your bookplate signed if you want one, and c) anything else you’d like to tell me (and I totally LOVE getting letters, FYI).
5. Put Envelope One into Envelope Two. Also include your letter.
6. Drop Envelope Two into the mail and then wait!

Free stuff for Reading Groups who wanna read Sucks to Be Me

Hey! So my publisher gave me stacks of the Reading Guide for Sucks to Be Me. Which is coolness. But, you know, since I don’t want to paper my bathroom in them, I’d rather give them away. So that got me to thinking (which, as my husband will tell you, can be a dangerous thing).

If you’ve got a reading group (any kind: private, associated with a library or school or whatever) I’ll be more than happy to send you a little STBM care package including a reading group guide (or as many as you’d like), bookmarks, stickers, etc. Just tell me how many you need! This especially goes for teachers and librarians too!

AND I’ll be happy to either answer questions submitted to me via e-mail OR if possible (timing-wise) do a conference call (I’ve got Skype) or online chat with your club! Wouldn’t that be fun??

Questions, comments, whatever, just let me know.

What you need to do:

• Email me at kim @ kimberlypauley.com or use the Contact form on the site
• Tell me the name and address you want the care package sent to
• Tell me about how many bookmarks, etc. you need and if you want more than one reading guide
• If you’re under 13, I’ll need your parent’s permission before I can send you stuff (it’s the law)
• And if you want to set up a chat or e-mailed questions or a phone call or whatever, we can talk about that too!

Bad author! & a New Contest!

I’ve been so bad about posting! Not just here either…I’ve been a total slacker. But I am happy to report that the sequel to Sucks to Be Me is officially written! It’s with my editor now (next up: editorial revisions). Overall, I think I’m pretty happy with it right now though I’m sure Nina (my lovely editor) will help me make it even better.

Also, the paperback version of Sucks to Be Me is coming out on August 11th and it will have a sneak peek in the back of book 2!! Woot!

And the Spanish version is moving along though I don’t have an actual date yet. I just know that all of the contract stuff has gone through okay.

In other, non-STBM news, I’ve got an idea for a new book. It’s a non-vampire book and I can’t really say more than that because it’s still in the beginning stages in my head. However, I’d love to hear some ideas for character names. In particular, I need two guy names. So, post your favorite guy names and tell me WHY they are your favorite. I’ll pick a winner or two (depending on how many submissions I get) after the end of July and give away your choice of a t-shirt or a signed hardcopy of Sucks to Be Me. You can even enter more than once if you like — as many good names as you can think of!

So…the winners of the Sucks to Be Me t-shirts are…Taylor and Diana!! Congrats, guys! I totally want to see pictures of you in your t-shirts after you get them!!

And I have some great news today for Spanish speaking readers…looks like Sucks to Be Me is going to be published in Spanish! I don’t have a lot of details yet and it’ll be awhile, since it’s in the contract phase and they have to get it translated and everything (I sooooo want to see that!). But I’ll put more details up as I get them. Hola, Mina!

Happy New Year (& the Jan 09 STBM Contest!)!

Happy New Year everyone! Can you believe it’s already going to be 2009 in just a few hours?? Hope everyone has a “fang-tastic” new year!

There’s still a couple more hours to enter the contest to win a Sucks to Be Me t-shirt. And heck, I’ll always appreciate any reviews you submit to any of the bookseller sites!

Now then…how about a fun contest to start off the new year right?? I’m borrowing an idea from a site visitor that sounded fun to me…
