Still Sucks to Be Me now on Amazon! Whoo!

So I was on Amazon for an entirely different reason (I promise) and noticed that they’ve got Still Sucks to Be Me listed now! It’s not out until May 11th and they’ve got the title slightly wrong, but Woot! all the same. And apparently you can pre-order it! I think at least one person already has since the book has a ranking (I’m pretty sure you don’t get a ranking until at least one copy has been ordered). So that is total and utter coolness.

In bookish news, my editor went back and forth with me one more time with some teeny little changes, but I think it is finally all done. Whew. I now honestly have more sympathy about finding typos in books. They’ve always bugged me but it’s amazing to me now that no matter how many times you (or your editor or the copyeditor) go over a book, you always find something. I hope nothing made it through, but if you find a typo when you read it, I’M SORRY! I SUCK! I DID MY BEST!

In other related news, we had a photo shoot this past weekend and I should have a new official author photo coming soon. Which is good considering my last author photo? Um, totally me long-arming the camera all by myself and snapping a picture. This time there were PROFESSIONALS involved (the Souder Photography folks, to be exact).

Am really excited to see the photos of The Max, honestly. He’s way cuter than I am.

Random Still Sucks to Be Me tidbit of the day: the name of a teacher and the principal in the book are the names of one of my favorite teachers of all time (Jennifer McCoy, now McNeal) and the vice-principal (Mr. Fleming) from where I went to high school in 11th and 12th grade.

First chapter of Still Sucks to Be Me!

Hey! Woot! I got the okay from my editor to post the back copy and first chapter of Still Sucks to Be Me! Yippee! So you can check it out: the back copy is on the official Still Sucks to Be Me page on the site (I replaced what I had there originally, the teaser stuff from the paperback of Sucks to Be Me) and the first chapter is posted separately. Would love to hear what you think!

Unless you hate it. Then, eh, you can keep it to yourself. ;-)

Still Sucks to Be Me release date moved up!

Okay, just got the most awesome news today! The release date for Still Sucks to Be Me has been moved up from August/September to May 2010!! Woot!

Apparently it was the sales folks at Random House who wanted to move it up (Mirrorstone distributes through Random House) and I say “Bless ‘em!” Am very excited! Would totally turn a cartwheel if it wouldn’t (likely) kill me!

Found a nice new review & general news

I was doing a bit of surfing around today and found a nice new review of Sucks to Be Me at Deep Thoughts. Always gives your day a boost to find a nice review out and about. :)

In writing-ish news, I’m nearly halfway through the sequel. I just modified the outline again since I thought of some cool new bits while I was writing up a synopsis for my editor. I had to write one up because the paperback version of Sucks to Be Me is going to come out later this year and they are going to include some kind of sneak preview of the sequel in the back of the book. So I’ve sent her a synopsis as well as some snippets (first chapter, a sample list, etc.). Not sure yet what will wind up in the paperback, but I’m looking forward to it!

In completely unrelated news, I’ve watched the first 3 parts of Lost in Austen (it’s a 4 parter, so only one more to go). It’s pretty good! If you are a Pride & Prejudice fan, you should check it out. It’s about a modern day London woman who kind of trades places with Elizabeth Bennett into the world of P&P and winds up mucking the story up (more or less).
