Fan Art: Lorelai!

This is a submission from Hriju! It’s Lorelai, a friend of Mina’s from the first book. :) She looks quite cheeky, which is very Lorelai!

Extra Points Opportunity #5! The last one!

Here’s the LAST chance for you to earn extra points/entries towards the iPad I’m giving away at the end of October (and if you haven’t entered already, um, hurry!!)!

The first opportunity (500 points!) was for buying a copy of one of my books during the contest period. The second opportunity (50 points each) was for changing your Facebook and/or Twitter Profile picture. The third opportunity (50 points each) was for posting reviews of either of the Sucks to Be Me books. The fourth opportunity was to read a short story and comment/link it (50 or a 100 points).

This one is FUN. And CREATIVE. And was suggested by a Twitter follower, so you can blame them if you don’t like it. :P

To earn this extra points opportunity you can do any or all of the following (200 points each). If you haven’t read the books yet, you can take a look at the sample chapters online and go from there (don’t worry, I won’t be crediting points based on accuracy or anything — this should be fun!)

  1. Dress up as any one of the characters from Sucks to Be Me or Still Sucks to Be Me, take a picture of yourself, and either post it on Facebook, your blog, Twitter or wherever (or email it to me and I’ll post it in my blog) AND/OR
  2. Write a flash fan fiction (anywhere between 100 and 500 words) featuring any of the characters or the world of Sucks to Be Me and either post it on Facebook, your blog/tumblr/wherever (or email it to me and I’ll post it) AND/OR
  3. Draw or create a picture of any of the characters or scenes from the books and either post it on Facebook, your blog, Twitter or wherever (or email it to me and I’ll post it in my blog).
  4. Create a new cover for either of the books and either post it on Facebook, your blog, Twitter or wherever (or email it to me and I’ll post it in my blog).

Then:

  1. E-mail me at kim at kimberlypauley dot com to let me know what you’ve done so I can verify it (or to post it).
  2. Important! Include your contest username in the email so I know who to award the points to!! And please send it ASAP to give me time to award the extra points!

And that’s it! You get 200 extra points for each one you do! Heck, if it’s really incredible, I reserve the right to add extra points.

Extra Points Opportunity #3 for the iPad Giveaway!

Here’s another chance for you to earn extra points/entries towards the iPad I’m giving away at the end of October (and if you haven’t entered already, um, why??)!

The first opportunity (500 points!) was for buying a copy of one of my books during the contest period. The second opportunity (50 points each) was for changing your Facebook and/or Twitter Profile picture. This one’s for people who have already read either (or both) of my books and who don’t necessarily “do” the social networking thing. Because, apparently, those people still exist. Really.

To earn this extra points opportunity you have to:

  1. Write and post a review of my book (either one: Sucks to Be Me or Still Sucks to Be Me or their translated counterparts). The review can be posted at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Goodreads, LibraryThing, Chapters, Powell’s,  your blog, or any other online book review-ish-ness place you can think of (you tell me).
  2. Wanna make it count multiple times? Simply post the review in more than one spot! However, I do ask that if you (for whatever reason) absolutely hated my books? Um, skip this one, please. Sorry, but I’m not gonna give you a bunch of extra points for trashing the books…that kinda defeats the purpose of having these giveaways…
  3. E-mail me at kim at kimberlypauley dot com with the link(s) so I can verify it.
  4. Important! Include your contest username in the email so I know who to award the points to!! And please send it by October 30th to give me time to award the extra points!

And that’s it! KaPow! You get 50 extra points! And yes, if you’re paying attention…if you wrote reviews of both my first and second books and then posted them on three sites (say Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Chapters), you’d have 300 points right there. Easy Peasy!

Have an idea for another extra points opportunity? Let me know!

And the winner of the T-shirt is… @that_cool_girl !

It’s that time again! I’ve passed 2000 followers and I get to give away a t-shirt! Congrats to Hannah-Beth @that_cool_girl the winner of a Sucks to Be Me t-shirt of her choosing (Hannah-Beth, just email me what size, color and design you want + your address)! Woot!

Next t-shirt will be given away at 2500 followers…(right now I’m at 2114 so if you’re not following me yet, get going!)

Extra Points Opportunity #2 for the iPad Giveaway!

Here’s another chance for you to earn extra points/entries towards the iPad I’m giving away at the end of October (and if you haven’t entered already, um, why??)!

The last opportunity (500 points!) was for buying a copy of one of my books during the contest period. This one’s for people who already have a copy of either (or both) of my books. Because I love you guys. Seriously. I want to hug and squeeze you and call you George. That’s how much I love my readers.

Anyway. Moving on before someone calls the stalker police.

To earn this extra points opportunity you have to:

  1. Take a picture of yourself with one of my books (either one). Preferably looking, you know, happy and not constipated or anything.
  2. Make that picture your Facebook or Twitter profile picture. Not permanently or anything, but longer than a day would be great :)
  3. E-mail me at kim at kimberlypauley dot com with the link to your profile/wall so I can verify it.
  4. Important! Include your contest username in the email so I know who to award the points to!! And please send it by October 30th to give me time to award the extra points!

And that’s it! Bazinga! You get 50 extra points!

The Great Scavenger Hunt!

The Great Scavenger Hunt contestHave you heard about the awesome Great Scavenger Hunt Contest that author Kay Cassidy started? If you’re a librarian or teacher and you haven’t gotten involved yet…what are you waiting for (and hey, teens? If your librarian isn’t participating…now would be a good time to go give ‘em a whack on the head. Though, okay, maybe only figuratively, not literally. Don’t want a bunch of black and blue librarians out there.)?

I’m officially now a participating author with Sucks to Be Me and soon with Still Sucks to Be Me. I’m also going to be donating books to Kay to give away.

Good luck in the scavenger hunt!

And Happy Reading!

Sucks to Be Me & Still Sucks to Be Me T-shirts for Charity!

Vampire Squirrel

Vampire Squirrel from Still Sucks to Be Me

Okay, this is too cool! I got the go ahead from my publisher to do this (yay!) after I’ve been hearing for a while from people how much they’d love a T-shirt with batty on it! Woot! Now introducing the Sucks to Be Me T-Shirt shop (provided by Spreadshirt)!! All proceeds from sales will be donated to Open Books, a local literacy charity.

And even cooler? I’ve designed some of the shirts with BRAND SPANKIN’ NEW stuff from Still Sucks to Be Me! Check out the vampire squirrel, for instance! Or the Official VRA (Vampire Relocation Agency) wear!

And if there’s a particular shirt you’d like with a particular design, just let me know. I’m happy to make anything for you that you want (that I’m able to do).

Please feel free to pass on the shop: http://stbm.spreadshirt.com — ALL proceeds go to charity, so you can even feel good about wearing batty…like you wouldn’t already!

Sucks to Be Me…now in audio format!

Just saw that Sucks to Be Me is now available as an audio book via Audible! I knew it was coming, I just didn’t know exactly when. :-) I think it even shows up on Amazon too.

If you do listen to it, let me know how it sounds! I have to see if I can get a copy!

New cool STBM Book Swag!

You want one? You know you do. Just do the same thing as when you’re sending off for a bookplate (and if you need one of those, I’ll send one out too!). Send me a self-addressed stamped envelope and I’ll send you one. For those of you who’ve never done an SASE before, here’s what you do:

  1. Get TWO envelopes (business size is best since I can fit bookmarks in those…and you want a free bookmark too, right?)
  2. Envelope One: Address this envelope to yourself. Put a stamp on the envelope. Set aside.
  3. Envelope Two: Address this envelope to me at: Kimberly Pauley, PO Box 303, Grayslake, IL 60030 and put a stamp on it.
  4. Write me a letter telling me a) what you want (i.e. batty tattoo, bookplate, etc.), b) how you want your bookplate signed if you want one, and c) anything else you’d like to tell me (and I totally LOVE getting letters, FYI).
  5. Put Envelope One into Envelope Two. Also include your letter.
  6. Drop Envelope Two into the mail and then wait!
